OUR WEIGHT LOSS CLINIC WORKS ON THE PRINCIPLES THAT:

&

WEIGHT LOSS IS NOT ACCIDENTAL

&

IT’S YOUR BODY IT’S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

&

YOU LOSE WEIGHT IF CALORIES OUT ARE GREATER THAN CALORIES IN

&

A DIET IS ONLY SUCCESSFUL IF IT IS SUSTAINABLE

YOUR DIET GAMEPLAN

The diet you choose needs to be a good fit.

We all have tendencies in our personalities and eating habits that lend themselves to certain diets eg. planners, micromanagers, grazers, one meal a day. Selecting the appropriate diet strategy is key to sustainability. Meat eaters can sustain the carnivore diet but grazers struggle with intermittent fasting. Some of the more common diet plans out there are listed below. But remember they are all really just different ways to restrict your caloric intake.

Patients who are willing to track their intake: ▪

  • CICO (carbs in carbs out)
  • IIFYM (if it fits your macros)
  • Template method (meal planning structure)

Patients who have metabolic syndrome, high triglycerides, insulin resistance:

  • Ketogenic
  • Carb cycling

Patients who are devout meat eaters:

  • Carnivore

Patients who do not need to eat multiple meals a day:

  • Intermittent fasting
  • Alternate day fasting
  • Eat to 80

Patients who are more concerned with eating organic, GMO-free, or “all natural:” ▪ Paleo

  • Whole 30

Patients who want flexibility:

  • CICO
  • IIFYM
  • Intermittent fasting
  • Template method

Patients who are not keen on tracking intake:

  • Intermittent fasting
  • Alternate day fasting
  • Ketogenic
  • Carnivore
  • Paleo
  • Whole 30
  • Eat to 80
  • PHFT method (palm, hand, finger, thumb- quick portion sizing technique)

WEIGHT LOSS  MEDICATIONS

&

GLP-1 (semaglutide, tirzepatide)

These medications work by mimicking the effects of a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), which helps regulate blood sugar levels and appetite.

These medications (semaglutide, tirzepatide) can help suppress appetite, increase feelings of fullness, and regulate blood sugar levels, leading to reduced calorie intake and weight loss. They can be combined with other weight loss medications as well as GNRH peptides such as Sermorelin. These newer medications far exceed total weight loss than other classes of weight loss medications. Often times they are administered with B-12 to help offset potential side effects such as nausea, vomiting and fatigue

&

Buproprion/Naltrexone

Good for the weight loss patient who lacks energy/motivation; depressed weight loss patient; weight loss patient who complains of cravings (patients who crave specific foods) or binge-eating

&

7-Keto-DHEA

Good for the HRT/TRT patient who is also following a weight loss program and has low DHEA-S

&

GOAL injection (Glutamine, Ornithine, Arginine, Lysine)

Good for the weight loss patient who is actively exercising; great for patients who are trying to build muscle and on a resistance training program and wants to maximize training.

&

Oxytocin

Good for the patient who has special cravings or binge-eats; works best in obese patients (less efficacy at curbing cravings in leaner patients).

&

Glycyrrhetinic acid & aminophylline transdermal

Good for the weight loss patient who has excessive central adiposity and  for patients who have high triglycerides and/or the metabolic/insulin resistant patient. This is a topical medication and is typically used in conjunction with other weight loss medications

&

HCG

Good for the weight loss patient who needs some appetite curbing; patient who has excessive central adiposity and it complements TRT

&

MIC injection (Methionine-Inositol-Choline-Cyanocobalamin)

Good for the weight loss patient who complains of fatigue and needing a “pick-me-up;” or gastric bypass patients who have regained their weight. Used as a piggyback medication with other weight loss medications and not a by itself

&

Phentermine

Good for the patient who eats excessively and needs appetite curbing. Most effective in the first 2 months and cannot be used for more than 3x months. During this time the patient can learn better eating habits. Also, used concurrently with other medication classes to kickstart weight loss.

&

Phentermine/Topiramate

Ideal in the weight loss patient who needs both appetite curbing and has either sleep-related eating disorders, night-time snackers, or specific cravings

&

Sermorelin (GHRH)

Good for the weight loss patient with excessive central adiposity; patient who has poor quality of sleep.
